| Mood: | procrastinating like mad... |
so sorry it's been this long since my last post - i've been sssuuuuuupper busy with school, and living in a foreign country hasn't allowed for a lot of downtime either.
i'm currently procrastinating a paper like crazy, hence the new post! i've been indoctrinated into a new fandom (darn you S and L) so even the time i do have to relax tends to be taken up with teh wonderful Sam and Dean, Dean and Sam. mmm. and, you know, the accompanying fic etc. that goes with them. i've found a few authors that are just spectacular, so yay!
i've also enabled two other friends. they are now Supernatural Freaks as well. woot! i am in good company here!
anyway, enough procrastinating. but i miss my downtime (hopefully there'll be more come summer) and i miss lj... ttyl, i hope. :) xx

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test... Balanced, Secure, and Realistic.
Impressionism is a movement in French painting, sometimes called optical realism because of its almost scientific interest in the actual visual experience and effect of light and movement on appearance of objects. Impressionist paintings are balanced, use colored shadows, use pure color, broken brushstrokes, thick paint, and scenes from everyday life or nature. People that like Impressionist paintings may not alway be what is deemed socially acceptable. They tend to move on their own path without always worrying that it may be offensive to others. They value friendships but because they also value honesty tend to have a few really good friends. They do not, however, like people that are rude and do not appreciate the ideas of others. They are secure enough in themselves that they can listen to the ideas of other people without it affecting their own final decisions. The world for them is not black and white but more in shades of grey and muted colors. They like things to be aestically pleasing, not stark and sharp. There are many ways to view things, and the impresssionist personality views the world from many different aspects. They enjoy life and try to keep a realistic viewpoint of things, but are not very open to new experiences. If they are content in their live they will be more than likely pleased to keep things just the way they are. Take What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test at HelloQuizzy

wow, the time's going quickly! i've finished first placement here in Edinburgh, and have settled nicely into life in Scotland. i'm LOVING it here, even when the cost of everything gets to me, or when - like for the last week - i've been pretty deathly ill. the people have grown ever nicer, and i've made some amazing friends in the Canadian contingent. :) i've seen some parts of Scotland that make me long to settle here long term, though i have no clue if i'd be able to feasibly support myself in those parts - remote villages don't necessarily need more primary teachers. i'm amazed, actually, to note that it's October 5th already! i've been here for two months! and though i am looking forward to going home at Christmas, i'm no longer counting down the weeks. ... this may change after going back to lectures this coming week. placement and working with children is SO much more appealing than sitting still for hours listening to others blather on and on and ON... :) i hope everyone's year is turning out as great as mine, and i miss you all! cheers, xoxox

hello from cloudy Edinburgh! it's been a week since school started, and so far i've met some great Canadians and Scots. i haven't moved into permanent residence yet, but we're working on it - the food sucks, but there's a great gym to compensate for this blubber-inducing fact. no internets except in the bar above the cafeteria, but there's a wonderful sort-of-greenhouse-like area attached to the back patio that we (the canadians) inhabit while playing on the web. so we're not so much bothered by the drunken rowdies. went out pub crawling last night, and had a pretty good time! not much open after 11.30 though, which is a bit of a shock for us - we're used to going OUT at that time, not starting to drink at 7 and coming home then... and look! me! drinking! i love the cider here... Bulmers is my friend... school's going well, i think. we'll see how i feel just before 1st placement, eh?
... anyone know where to find a drying rack for sale around here? and possibly good detergent? i'm running out of clothes fairly rapidly...
hugs and smooches to you all! xoxox

count down, 12 days. *whimpers* i'm now living out of my packed suitcases in the front room, to make sure i actually have everything i need and it fits into the acceptable weight amounts for the airplane. how can i pack for a year with only two suitcases and a carry-on, i ask you!!? well. i've managed it. somehow. maybe i'll sneak some shoes into my sister's bag when she's not looking...
if i haven't seen you, I LOVE YOU ALL, and i hope you have a spectacular year! (please please pray i do too. eeeeeep.) i'll probably be online sometime before the end of August *crosses fingers* so maybe there'll be an update on Living Like A Scot. :)

i was planning on having a shower. but the power keeps going off sporadically. dammit. i don't want to risk being in there with no lights (because of course i can't find the frickin' flashlights and have been relying on my cellphone for visuals. grr.
i usually like thunderstorms. but not when they effect my house! lights! internet connection! and not when i'm ALL ALONE. *whimpers*

the new cat, Mowgli, has taken to splaying himself rather obscenely on his back to try and escape the summer heat. i'd find him rather ridiculous if it weren't such a sign that he's grown to trust me enough to show belly so often. *grin* plus, you know. he's really quite adorable. even when he does something awful we're quick to forgive him. i think he's become the baby of the house. he's definitely allowed to do things the other two were never allowed to get away with... :)

well, had the surgery on Monday, and this evening is the first time i've been really up to doing anything besides sleeping and going to the washroom. but! i'm feeling LOADS better, so yay! and thanks to all you amazing people who have been calling to wish me well. *hugs* it's back to the hospital tomorrow to get the drains out (ew) and then another few weeks before the stitches can be removed. but i'm optimistic, and i've got tons of movies lined up to watch. the step-bro has shown me how to work the Wii downstairs, so when i'm up to navigating stairs on my own, there's old-school Mario Bros. waiting! so, that's all my news for right now. funnily enough? getting this done didn't scare me HALF as much as getting my wisdom teeth out - which was with a local, not general anaesthetic. weird, no? *ponders this*
thanks again, you wonderful people! xoxox

hello all! happy everything, i've been sick sick sick, and therefore incommunicado with pretty much the world for a while. but i'm back! and i bring... THE MOUNTAIN GOATS! that's right, thanks to the wonderful fiercelydreamed i'm happily devouring new music by a great band! *dances* it's gone on the ipod i've finally given in and acquired. it's been rough, adapting to this new technology, but i'm getting used to it. :) oh! and saw I Am Legend today, and quite enjoyed it. i'm not sure Queen C's shirt sleeve will ever be the same, though. i probably twisted it aaaall out of wack during the nerve-wracking parts. sorry darlink!
cheers all, happy January! xoxox

saw the sneak preview of The Golden Compass tonight.
a real disappointment.
though the bears were cool, and Eva Green is still beautiful.
if you really have a wish to see it... wait until it's out on video.
that is all.

back! finally hale and healthy. the voice is back too! woot.
well, the sis has just gotten a kitten. who looks EXACTLY like our little (okay, not so little. okay FAT, alright? but it's muscle mostly, i swear!) man, Guinness. she's named him Mowgli. with the mow pronounced as it should be, like cow. :) stoooopid Disney. Kipling explains in the ACTUAL BOOK how to pronounce the names - didn't one of their research people go, "hey, maybe we should read the book before adapting it for our own purposes?" grr. aaaanyway. from the pics and from hearing his purr over the phone, i'm looking forward to meeting him when she brings him to Toronto for christmas break. whee! it's getting closer! two whole weeks of holidays! i can finally get some of my reading done! *dances* happy happy, people! xoxox
