back from Virginia, went to the beach, got sunburnt (but not badly!) and am now happy to start really getting stuff ready for the comning year in Scotland. *freaks out a bit* got lots to do before that plane takes off!

i was planning on having a shower. but the power keeps going off sporadically. dammit. i don't want to risk being in there with no lights (because of course i can't find the frickin' flashlights and have been relying on my cellphone for visuals. grr.

i usually like thunderstorms. but not when they effect my house! lights! internet connection! and not when i'm ALL ALONE. *whimpers*

the new cat, Mowgli, has taken to splaying himself rather obscenely on his back to try and escape the summer heat. i'd find him rather ridiculous if it weren't such a sign that he's grown to trust me enough to show belly so often.

plus, you know. he's really quite adorable. even when he does something awful we're quick to forgive him. i think he's become the baby of the house. he's definitely allowed to do things the other two were never allowed to get away with... :)

well, had the surgery on Monday, and this evening is the first time i've been really up to doing anything besides sleeping and going to the washroom. but! i'm feeling LOADS better, so yay! and thanks to all you amazing people who have been calling to wish me well. *hugs* it's back to the hospital tomorrow to get the drains out (ew) and then another few weeks before the stitches can be removed. but i'm optimistic, and i've got tons of movies lined up to watch. the step-bro has shown me how to work the Wii downstairs, so when i'm up to navigating stairs on my own, there's old-school Mario Bros. waiting!
so, that's all my news for right now. funnily enough? getting this done didn't scare me HALF as much as getting my wisdom teeth out - which was with a local, not general anaesthetic. weird, no? *ponders this*

hello all!
happy everything, i've been sick sick sick, and therefore incommunicado with pretty much the world for a while. but i'm back! and i bring... THE MOUNTAIN GOATS! that's right, thanks to the wonderful fiercelydreamed i'm happily devouring new music by a great band! *dances*
it's gone on the ipod i've finally given in and acquired. it's been rough, adapting to this new technology, but i'm getting used to it. :)
oh! and saw I Am Legend today, and quite enjoyed it. i'm not sure Queen C's shirt sleeve will ever be the same, though. i probably twisted it aaaall out of wack during the nerve-wracking parts. sorry darlink!

a real disappointment.

though the bears were cool, and Eva Green is still beautiful.

back! finally hale and healthy. the voice is back too! woot.

well, the sis has just gotten a kitten. who looks EXACTLY like our little (okay, not so little. okay FAT, alright? but it's muscle mostly, i swear!) man, Guinness. she's named him Mowgli. with the mow pronounced as it should be, like cow. :) stoooopid Disney. Kipling explains in the ACTUAL BOOK how to pronounce the names - didn't one of their research people go, "hey, maybe we should read the book before adapting it for our own purposes?" grr.
aaaanyway. from the pics and from hearing his purr over the phone, i'm looking forward to meeting him when she brings him to Toronto for christmas break. whee! it's getting closer! two whole weeks of holidays! i can finally get some of my reading done!

so, life is a little hectic.
added another 5 hours to my work schedule, which means no real days off. which, you know, boo.
added an afternoon of caring for a one year old, who is adorable, and makes me able to see that not all children are autistic (because god knows i've started to think that) and therefore has saved a sliver of my sanity.
put in for time off for christmas (yay!) but also have to be the one to make the schedules for my clients this holiday... eep! i'm going to get J to walk me through it step by step, otherwise i know i'll screw it up somehow.
*le sigh*

in other news, my uterus feels like it's trying to beat me to death with a blunt object. so! TMI or what? i don't care, i'm sharing the ohmygodihurti'mbitchyi'mtiredscrewyouall-ness.

did i mention i have to be at work tomorrow at 7:45? yeah, this will not be a pleasant day.

Thanksgiving was awesome awesome - went to Chelsea (just east of Ottawa) where the trees and the water... gah. just beautiful. went hiking and canoeing! my shoulders are still a little sore from the portaging.
the past month has been SO hectic. lots of work, tons of stuff to do... but i've been having a pretty darn good time, even with the lack of internet!
but now... I'M BACK!! woohoo!! for awhile at least.

yay! the internet appears to be working again! *knocks on wood* now i can catch up with my flist and the fic from The Pit. woot. it's kind of scary to realise how dependant i am on the 'net - for email communications, for news, etc. - it's only obvious when i don't have access.
it's actually quite scary. both to go without it, and to realise it. gah.

is it possible to be addicted to the internet? how strange...

to drown my sorrows? pizza. mild chicken wings. coke and sprite. The Usual Suspects. and Michael Flatley. yes, you read it right. Michael Flatley cures all my woes. the music, the clogging. i'm a glutton for irish dancing. i wish i'd done it as a kid! as it was, it was Scottish country dancing for me, which is totally different. le sigh.

ah well, i still have 45 mins of Lord of the Dance left. back to the dancing!

Billy's back! *dances* and we saw Stardust tonight *is gleeful* i haven't read the book, so i have no idea what others might think, but that was JUST the movie i wanted; sweet, but not saccharine, humourous without being slapstick... and there's SLASH in it!! i kid you not! EEEEE!! just the movie to see with my Billy - where we can turn to eachother and quietly fangirl!squee over something.

and much as i was against them, i've now seen new trailers for The Seeker and for The Golden Compass, which have made me rethink my stance - i may very well go see them. just shows what a good trailer can do, eh? oh, and has anyone read The Spiderwick Chronicles? there's a movie coming out that looks... frankly kind of scary! hee.

so. the 'rents are off to Kenya for two weeks, and i'm stuck here to water the flowers. *pouts*
hope everyone who is off to school has a great first week, and those of you who are sending off said people... cheers! another year begun!

i have a credit balance on my VISA. i think this is the first time in the history of my family, since credit cards were invented, that someone actually has paid more money than they've used on their bill. it actually tells me PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A PAYMENT. yeah, okay! dude... crazy.

the sisters have gone to Montreal for the weekend. boo-urns. on a happier not, i've been promised a Tiffany's necklace as a graduation present. WOOT! i'm going all girly! my mum nearly fainted in shock when i requested it - i think she'd despaired of ever getting me past the jeans&t-shirt stage. *g*

got stung by a wasp for the first time ever today. can i just say? OW.
and i managed to bash my head when i stood up to quickly coming out from below a staircase. um. ow. again.
but i had thai for dinner, so that made up for it. and the stupid lowlife who makes my life ten times harder at work is being let go. HA! that's what you get for thinking you're better than me!

still doing the Noneeca Goes to Camp! novelette. wooo. hooo. it's bloody broiling out there, i kid you not. i drank so much H2O out there today i'm surprised i didn't float away. i'm stuck at work while the fam hangs at the cottage because i couldn't get the time off - yes, sucks to be me, i know.
on a more up-beat note, i went on a massive ride on dad's 'bike today, and managed not to get sunburned, although my butt-bones now hurt like a hurting thing. i found two pair of pants at lululemon on sale (score!) and a gorgeous skirt that i have fallen in love with (double score!!) i also got myself the second comic in the Buffy series. yes, i'm behind the times. but i haven't had the chance to visit the store until now!
so, in closing i say, yay me.
